Captain Overboard

Ship without a captain
currents taking charge;
madmen feeling certain
they can hurl a barge.

Reason’s lost its meaning
with no one at the helm;
currents keep careening
and hazards overwhelm.

Each day the crew is warned
men falling overboard;
those rescued left forlorned
and doubting their own lord.

Think about the Bounty
and all of Christian’s sighs;
sailing seas of plenty,
remembered for his lies.

At least that Captain Hook,
was always true to form;
unworthy as a crook,
he kept his sailors warm.

Ought to plan a mutiny,
but dare not sail alone.
On a sea so salty,
lone fools die by the drone.

Captain Kirk where are you,
your selfless words in hand;
could you inspire crew
and bring them safe to land?

Ship without a captain
sails into the night.
Helmsmen losing passion
see no North Star in sight.
